Salt in the Air, Sand in my Hair: A Puerto Galera Beach Experience

Featured
Do you and your friends want to have a little distance between you and your office desks but you’re wallet is stopping you?
WHITE BEACH, PUERTO GALERA is the best escape pod for you. The place is well-maintained and there are wide varieties of water activities for everyone. Last November 30, 2018, me and my friends embarked on this travel adventure and honestly, going home never even crossed my mind. Sands are so fine, that makes you want to take your slippers off and stroll along the seaside.
The sea is clear and blue that made our swim more refreshing. You can also find small pebbles everywhere and waiting for you to pick them up. Foods are cheap as they offer group meals, so you have nothing to worry about. Folks are all kind and they won’t take advantage of you but you still have to secure your valuables for safety purposes.
So, how does the locals keep their surroundings clean? Some houses nearby offer free breakfast or free coffee when you pick 1 kilo of bottles or plastic. They are also using biodegrable plastics or paper bags when buying souvenirs.
I know you guys are excited to know the details of our trip, so here’s a little summary of our 3 Days 2 Nights stay at Puerto Galera:
GOING TO PUERTO GALERA
We had a private vehicle to bring us from Manila going to Batangas Pier (Cost/6pax).
It took us 2 hours from Makati to Batangas Pier.
For commuters: There are many buses at DLTB or JAC Liner (located at LRT Gil Puyat) going to Batangas Pier not sure how much it costs but roughly I think its around 200pesos.
When we went there it was a long weekend so many tourists are also heading to Puerto Galera. That’s why I suggest that you must arrive at the Pier early. Unfortunately for us, the tickets for fastcrafts were sold out and it will be another 3-4 hours of waiting for the next fastcraft. Thus, we have no choice but to try our best with Ferry going to Calapan (which is also a very wrong move). I highly suggest that you don’t ride Ferries as these are very slow water vessels and takes too long to dock.
From Calapan, we rode a jeep going to Puerto Galera, White Beach which took an hour and a half of travel. (100/pax)
But I suggest that you should not go there during long weekends.
WHERE TO STAY?
We stayed at a Lodge which is located exactly at White Beach, it costs us around 1200 pesos per head for 3D2N (with FREE BREAKFAST meals). The place is okay, not grand, but the good thing is that they have air condition system, refrigerator, tv and private bathroom (I feel that I should emphasize this one because private bathroom is everything! πŸ€”). The caretaker was very approachable and assists us in all our needs. They are also the ones who arranged our Fastcraft tickets for our return to Batangas Pier.

ACTIVITIES

There are many things that you can do while staying at White Beach, Puerto Galera. You can get a henna tattoo, island hopping, snorkeling, jetski, banana boat, kayak and many more water activities. You can even get a massage if you want to be relaxed from all these activities.

Here are the details for their water activities:

But for our bunch, we’ve tried Island hopping, Caving and Snorkeling. It only costs us 700/pax. Worth it, I must say since we swam along with the fishes and it was a new experience for us.

Worried about what to do at night? Fret not! Because as the night goes by, the party goes on. There are many fire dancers along the shore which will amaze you. You can also drink along with your friends or even watch the folks at the comedy bars scattered everywhere.

Thus, White Beach is a really fun place to be.

Once you go BLK, you can never go back!

Last October, my friend and I went to Glorietta to try out BLK513’s yogurt. Luckily, our officemates were kind enough to give us a discount coupon worth 100pesos. So, yay! 😊

There were many things to choose from to add to your yogurt such as oreo crunchies, brownies, butterbeer, fruits and sauce. That time, I chose butterbeer, mangoes and strawberry for the fruits (you get to choose 2 fruits to add). For the sauce, I tried their Gold Milk (for additional 20-30 pesos, I think) and it was so good! I also love how they indicate the calories in their menu. This is nice especially for people like me who keep track on their calorie intake πŸ˜‰

Overall, the yogurt tasted good! Maybe because of the gold milk sauce added which tasted like pastillas/yema, by the way. For a single cup, it cost around 210 pesos but if you don’t avail any of their add-ons it would only cost less than 200pesos. It’s a bit pricey for some, but I think it is definitely worth it!
